THE 11TH INTERNATIONAL CONTEST OF YOUNG VOCALISTS „BALTIC VOICE 2023“, JUODKRANTĖ 1ST – 5TH JULY 2023
REGULATIONS

The contest „Baltic Voice“ is going to take place in the beautiful town Juodkrante, which lies on the shore of the Curonian Spit- a unique man and nature‘s creation that was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. During the competition, participants will be able to show their talent on stage, get acquainted with the musical culture of different nations, and in their free time discover magnificent places located at the seaside resort (the Lithuanian Maritime Museum and other interesting places in Curonian Spit).

CONTEST
Participants will have to perform 2 songs.
• Soloists are divided into the following age groups: 7-9; 10-12; 13-15; 16-18; 19-23; 24-29 years old.
The first song is freely chosen, and the second is a world hit.
• Ensembles (up to 12 participants) are divided into the following age groups: 7-12; 13-19; 20-29 years old. The first song is freely chosen, and the second is a world hit.
• Age groups are subject to change. Soloists can use recorded backing vocals that do not duplicate the main melody. Duets and ensembles sing without recorded backing vocals.
• The duration of each song is up to 3:40 minutes.

SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS
• The deadline for submission of the application and two photos – 5th April 2023. All the information has to be e-mailed to baltic.voice@gmail.com • If the number of participants reaches the limit, contest organizers reserve the right to stop the application submission.
• Entrants should send 2-3 song samples of them performing (YouTube link or audio files), except those who won 1-3 places in the „Baltic Voice 2022“.
• Backing tracks of both songs should be emailed to baltic.voice@gmail.com (.mp3 files) or transferred via www.wetransfer.com (.wav files) by 5th June 2023.
• Name your backing tracks according to this format: [song 1 or 2] [name, surname] [song title]

PARTICIPATION FEE
soloist – 70 €, duet – 90 €, tercet – 110 €, quartet – 125 €, ensemble (5-12 participants) – 25 € from each participant.

Until May 5th, you will receive a notification whether your application has been accepted or not. Once you have received notification that your application has been approved, send 50% of the entry fee amount to the account below by May 20 th. After transferring the indicated amount, send a copy of the bank statement to: baltic.voice@gmail.com
You will pay the remaining amount on the 2 nd of July from 9:00 to 9:45 when registering at the Summer Stage before the start of the competition. If you send the full amount, participation in the registration is not required. In case of cancellation of the application due to reasons beyond the control of the organizers, the prepayment is not refundable.

ACCOMMODATION
The participants will be accommodated in the hotel “Aurora” (Klaipėda, Nemuno st. 51). The organizers will arrange transportation from Vilnius (VNO), Kaunas (KUN), Riga (RIX) or Palanga (PLQ) airports to the hotel. The price of the transfer from the first three cities is €50 per person (from/to the airport).
o Hotel “AURORA” – 245€ (+breakfast and dinner) or
o Hotel “AURORA” – 205€ (+breakfast).
The price includes 4 nights at the hotel (double and triple rooms, 1-5 July), the price of the ferry, the bus from the ferry to Juodkrantė, technical service of the competition.
Please send the prepayment for the hotel by May 20 (30% of the total amount). Indicate which participant you are paying for in the purpose of the transfer.
The rest of the amount will be paid upon arrival to the accountant of the competition.

o Those who wish can independently rent a hotel in Juodkrante by phone or internet, and pay only the participation fee. The list of Juodkrante hotels and other information will be sent to those interested.

AWARDS
Contestants are going to compete for:
• Grand Prix Gold (+cash prize);
• Grand Prix Silver (+cash prize);
• Grand Prix Bronze (+cash prize);
• Grand Prix Junior (+cash prize);
• WAPA (World Association of Performing Arts) two special Grand Prix (+cash prizes);
• WAPA free invitations to festivals organized by WAPA in various countries;
• A Special Prize from the Mayor of Neringa Council;
• 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes & diploma holder (honorable mention);
• prizes and awards by organizers of international festivals and sponsors;
• all participants will receive a diploma for participation.
Contestants will be assessed by the international Jury within the scale of 20 points. Jury’s decision is final and indisputable. In case there is more than one participant with the same number of points – the decision of who comes first is made by the Chairman of the Jury.
Assessment criteria: professionalism, originality and stage appearance.
Participants will be awarded during the Gala concert. Performances will be selected by the Jury and organizers. Their decision is final.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Organizers of the contest have right to take photos, videos during the contest, as well as distribute any
audio, video and photo material.
• Leaders are responsible for health and safety of their students.
• By submitting the application, participants are agreeing to comply with the regulations.
• Contest participants and accompanying persons pay their own travel and living expenses.
• The contestants themselves are responsible for observing the copyrights of the songs they perform.
• Any questions or problems you may have should be solved with the organizers of the contest.
• Organizers reserve the right to make changes to the competition regulations. Any changes made will be announced on the website https://www.facebook.com/groups/BalticVoice/ or by email no later than one week before the contest.
• Organisers should be informed of any changes on your song choice no later than a week before the contest.
• A trip to the Lithuanian Maritime Museum and Dolphinarium will be organized for all who wish.

The price of the Maritime Museum is 12€ for adults, 6€ for students.
The price of the dolphinarium is 14€ for adults, 9€ for students.

SEMINAR
During the competition, a seminar will be held in Lithuanian and English “Stage Movement and Acting” (2 hours). Lecturer – Rugile Latvenaitė Lunevičienė, lecturer at the theater department of the Klaipeda Faculty of the LMTA, actress of the Youth Theatre.
